Jefferson Day-to-Day Ahead of Vikings-Dolphins Week 4 Matchup

Justin Jefferson missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury as the Vikings prepare to host Miami, with coach Kevin O'Connell calling him day-to-day.

The Vikings returned to practice Wednesday in Eagan as they prepare to host the Dolphins at 3:05 p.m. CT Sunday in Week 4 of the 2026 season, according to the team's official injury report.

Receiver Justin Jefferson did not participate Wednesday because of an ankle sprain suffered on his seventh snap during Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. Head coach Kevin O'Connell described Jefferson as "day-to-day," noting the receiver is feeling better as the week progresses but declining to speculate on his availability for Sunday. O'Connell said the team will not rush Jefferson back until he is at what the coach called "a certain place where we feel like he can go be himself."

Cornerback Chuck Demmings (hamstring) and punter Brett Thorson (right hamstring) also sat out Wednesday's session. Linebacker Blake Cashman was listed as limited due to an elbow issue. Running back Aaron Jones, Sr., was given a scheduled rest day, which is a maintenance designation rather than an injury concern.

The Vikings are scheduled to continue practice Thursday and Friday, with official game status designations expected to be released Friday following that final session, per the team.

Jefferson's status is the most significant storyline heading into the weekend. As the Vikings' top offensive weapon, any absence or limitation would materially affect Minnesota's offensive approach against Miami. O'Connell's comments suggest a decision may not be finalized until closer to kickoff, and the Friday status report should offer clearer indication of whether Jefferson will play, be limited, or sit out entirely.
